  • We don't celebrate halloween here, *sigh*. I think only one village in Malta celebrates Halloween. They just go trick or treating and people rarely go.

  • well thats depressing, why is that

  • (Normally) We don't have Halloween over here. We celebrate the 11th of November in Memory of St. Martin of Tours who shared his cloak with a beggar (at least that's how the legend goes).

After attending a huge bonfire, children go out with colourful lanterns they often made themselfes and then go around town singing to get sweets - exactly like on halloween only that they are not masked in scary outfits but carry their lanterns.

Over the last 10-15 years however this has changed a bit. By now mainly the younger ones who attend these activities with their kindergarden- or school-classes (mainly primary school) follow this tradition, while most older children found Halloween more interesting. So we basically have to be prepared for both parties, which is extremely difficult, since the bonfires aren't always on the 11th. ;-)

In our supermarkets, you can get all the halloween stuff you need, pumpkins, decoration,...

Oh and don't forget we have Walpurgis Night ;-)

In Germany, Walpurgisnacht, the night from April 30 to May 1, is the night when allegedly the witches hold a large celebration on the Blocksberg and await the arrival of Spring.

However not much is going on on this day, except for some parties here and there, sometimes they might have themes and you need to have a witchy outfit.

i don't know, we dont really care about halloween, many maltese people say what's the point of dressing in costumes and trick or treating? and if you go trick or treating people will probably shut the door in your face and shout at you

  • i might be going to a party and staying over night somewhere, but i'm not sure. If i do "dress up" i'll simply stick a name tag on my clothes which says "God" hehe i got that idea from Buffy the Vampire slayer! Seth Green is funny [hehe]

  • [hehe]nice

  • I always dress up as a goth and scare the sh*t out of little kids who knock on my door [hehe] then give them twice the amount of sweets, then i go trick or treating but only ask for small change, then give it to charity :D oh! i almost forgot, i always make my own toffee apples for my mates who come round :-)

  • Walpurgisnight?
Oh... That's anything for me... [hehe] My friend says often to me: 'You are look like a witch'... [hehe] I thing it can be funny.... :sun:

    :prettyplease
Oi, was ist das für ein Pudel? Ö_ö
Keine Ahnung, ich hab den auch noch nicht gesehen...

  • i just remembered, at school everyyear we have a disco, and to get in you've got to come dressed up as either a witch/wizard, ghost, skeleten, pumpkin, vampire or a devil, its really funny seeing the teachers dressed up as halloween characters, but some its not suprising as they where their costumes all year round.

  • lol, me and some friends have gotten a plan together, we're gonna run around my suburb with the Force FX lightsabers haveing fights dressed as jedi and sith [hehe]

  • We have an excellent plan for next Halloween. We're (my sis, mom and I) gonna go to the Waterfront (shopping mall where everyone goes for Halloween) dressed as Darth Vader, Obi Wan and some other random Jedi person and walk to random people and say "The Force is strong in this one." and "I feel a disturbance in the Force." just to see their reactions. [hehe]
