Which films have you watched recently?

    It was rather. I'm going to get Hubert Selby Jr.'s novel, just to see how the film adaption squares up.


    Sin City. Hmm. Mediocre in my opinion.

    So, you are into the serious sort of entertainment, Skinny Jeans ? I, for one prefer the lighter side of entertainment. Like comedy ( if it's clever ) or Sci-Fi. I don't mind a good piece of Fantasy like The Lord of the Rings ( which I totally love )and I do read a lot of the fore-mentioned.
    I actually gonna watch the X-Files movie tonight. Really looking forward to it. I have not missed one single episode of the series. :applaud

    No, I just think that if you're going to watch something revolving around a serious topic you want to be watching of five star material, as anything less probably wouldn't pay enough respect to people in a similar position. I love light entertainment, especially around Christmas; My seasonal films are Love Actually and The Holiday. The only films I won't watch are horrors and films such as the sequels to High School Musical and films for preteens that make out that 'High School' is the best thing since sliced bread as you begin to grow up...those types of films create teenagers with mutated opinions of what is important and why you go to school. I won't watch horrors not because they are scary but because it is just mindless violence, at least thrillers play on you psychologically.


    I watched Mamma Mia last night :P
    I do not know how you can fault that film, it is easily the best musical of the decade.

    I'm a huge fan of the book series, so I just had to see it, and it was marvellous. Of course, I thought the books are better, but the movie was extremely satisfying. Better than I thought it would be, and you know most of the time, movie adaptations of books aren't very good, *cough* Series of Unfortunate Events *cough*, but Twilight was incredible. Kristen Stewart did an amazing job as Bella, and Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, :thumbs: !!!


    I was a little upset that they didn't play Paramore's song 'Decode', but they did play 'I Caught Myself' when Jessica, Bella, and Angela go to Port Angeles for dresses to the prom, in which Bella just gave her opinion on the dresses since she hadn't planned on going.


    Fantastic movie, though. My second favorite, preceded by Casino Royale, succeeded by Speak.

    I'm not into horror either, a good thriller beats a horror flick any time. :-) The worst are the slasher movies where those ( almost always ) teenagers are getting slaughtered by some deranged guy with a chainsaw or something like it. You know, it's almost comical how the killer always picks one out of a group of teens ( high school ?! ) kills the teen while the other five ( or more ) just sit in a corner and watch the whole thing crying . One would think that five people ( or more ) should be able to overpower one guy. :ouch: It is just so stupid. Who writes those scripts ?

    I am debating on going to see Changeling at the cinema tomorrow. I can't help but think that Angelina Jolie has lost a lot of credit as an actress since getting together with Brad. Mr and Mrs Smith destroyed her career IMO :-?

    Changeling looks really good but I don't think it's a good idea for me to see it in theatres - the storyline seems fantastic, but I'm willing to bet I'll be bored watching it, and in the darkness of a theatre, I'll fall asleep. I think I'll wait for a DVD release.

    The changeling, it must be a remake from the 70s. There are so many remakes now, it almost seems like they are running out of ideas. :rofl

    Gah, they'd best not make a habit of doing so -I'll be on the warpath if the powers that be even suggest making remakes of Dirty Dancing, Titanic or Grease [hehe]

    It's not just the re-makes that put me off sometimes, some sequels should never been done. Like Jaws. The first one was great, the sequels though were s**t.
    I watched the Bourne ultimatum on sat. night. I don't see these films as sequels, rather as a trilogy. And as such they are great movies.
    Like The Matrix or The Lord of the Rings. :thumbsup

    i have something to talk about. has anyone watched Requiem for a Dream?
    Iknow it s an old movie,shooted in 2000 but i watched it recently and it was really touching. it s about addictions, different kinds of addictions of different characters and how it changes their lives. the things that affected me the most about the film was some great acting and very different, interesting shooting and the music: beautiful quartet that fits to the moment or an entire scene, makes you sad or tense...the director told that this is a scary movie, not a scary film with monsters, a scary film about a person's weakness and dreams, and he is totally right. i ve never heard of the director Darren Aranofsky before but now, i look forward to watching his other films as well.

    I'm sorry, Rogue, but no. I haven't seen that movie. Must admit it sounds interesting though. :thumbsup

    Small wonder why it was nominated for 30 something awards, I've never seen a film which portrays the lives and problems of seemingly normal people whose drug addictions spiral out of control so well, even if it does contain a lot of adult material.

    I ordered that book a couple of days ago. I dont think many bookshops will be selling that book. i guess the film and the book are pretty close becuz the director worked with Selby Jr. while creating the scenerio.


    I agree about the blacklisting part becuz of the swearing and the adult content but, it would be a lot better if it is shown to teens other than saying, "dont do drugs! drugs are addictive! drugs kill you!...i think that would save a lot of lives.

    I watched ' The Siege ' last night.
    A movie with Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis about a terrorist cell. Great story and good performance by the cast. :thumbsup

    Watched Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. Not as good as the first movie, but worth it for those penguins! :tux: :rofl ;-)


    Currently re-watching Flushed Away. Not bad :P

    Watched ' The Dark Knight ' again. An instant classic, if just for Heath Ledgers performance as the Joker. :thumbsup :thumbs: :wave:
