So some wishes can come true ! - Lara has gone mobile with at least 4 games available ! - Square Enix are behind them (& the new Tomb Raider series ... and the award-winning Life is Strange too !) - I like Square Enix - they're a good bunch - keep the mobile Lara games coming !

Ah yes, a little saved here means less to pay there - "every little helps" !

Aside from the big franchises that are out these days, including Rise of The Tomb Raider & Fallout 4, there has also been another successful game that is worth playing - Life is Strange, available on PC, PS & Xbox - and it's won several awards too ! It's an interactive game where you control Max Caulfield (a young female student)...and her time-bending abilities. - Without revealing too much, it involves some very difficult choices. Have you played it ? - If yes, what did you think of it ? - I personally found some of the decisions quite poignant, & the story compulsive to follow...I hope I won't have to wait too long for the sequel !

Fascinating :chin ! Now, I really am curious to play Uncharted - but product exclusivity really sucks sometimes !
-
I read a recent article that suggested the Uncharted series of games (& Nathan Drake) were "better" than our Lara & the new rebooted Tomb Raider series. Although I can't afford (yet) to have a PS as well to try out Uncharted, evidence suggests that it its pretty good :chin. As a proud Lara fan, of course I would say Lara (& the Tomb Raider games) are better than Nathan Drake's exploits - but what do you think ?

Oh dear, & apologies to my fellow PS Lara fans...As a creature of habit, I continued my Xbox affiliation, and got...an Xbox One (- after the price had been cut, of course). Rise of The Tomb Raider is no doubt a great game & tribute to our Lara - but sometimes I wish I could (afford) to get a PS as well - & have the best of both worlds (- I wish I could play "The Last of Us") !

Here's another joke for this thread...
A drunk man staggers back home, only to be confronted by his really angry wife - who is about to beat him into a pulp with a rolling pin. But before his wife can hit him, he cries out "but wait - you'll never believe this...I've just been to a pub where everything is made of gold - the counter, the tankards, the chairs...even the toilets !" His wife, curiosity aroused replies "really ?...even the toilets are made of gold ?" "Yes ! - the pub's called The Golden Crown - it just opened up the road !" her beleaguered husband cries - before staggering up the stairs to his bed.
The next day, the wife decides to make a phone call to this intriguing establishment. A nice lady answers the phone. The wife asks "is it true that you have a counter, chairs, and tankards made of gold ?" "Yes" was the reply. Amazed, the wife asks "what ?...That's amazing - is it true that the toilets are made of gold too ?! - My husband was there until late last night !" There is a pause on the other end of the phone line, before the nice lady can be heard saying "hey, Brian...I found out who pissed in your Tuba !"
Well, I thought it was funny...

Every games outlet worth their salt will have at least some "special events" related to new releases. I wouldn't be surprised if there were midnight launch events for the coming PS4 & Xbox One at a games shop near you. Two years ago, I decided to attend my first (& so far only) midnight launch event - that for the Nintendo 3DS console. I remember trying to find my way into a (closed) shopping mall, while passing queues of people waiting outside other stores. There was a raffle for a free console once inside the store - but of course, out of 15 in the queue, I didn't win ...With the benefit of hindsight, I wouldn't have gone...there was a major price cut just months later ...Oh well...
Anyway, have you - or will you - attend any special video game related events / midnight releases ? If you have done, what was your experience ?

I get the feeling that the launch of the Xbox One will fare as well as a Solari patrol when Lara ambushes it ...If Microsoft want the Xbox One to be more than a lame duck console (in sales) behind the PS4 in 2014, they'd better get their thinking caps on - cutting the price would be a good start :chin ...

I still have one of the games - not sure if II or III - resting on my PS3, waiting to be played (it was one of the games that was free for Plus members). I would like to play the series, but then I first have to purchase I and I still have a few other games to play before I get new ones. Need more time.
Ah yes, the bane of the Video Games enthusiast - so many good games out there to play ...but not enough time to play / complete them all ...Hmm, that reminds me, I still need to complete Bioshock Infinite, Resident Evil 5, Borderlands 2... ...

I thought Mass Effect (1-3) was very good too ! The quality of the game noticeably gets much better as you go through the trilogy, & although I wasn't initially a fan of the game when I first tried it out, I was basically addicted to it after a few hours (& once I got the hang of it) ! A great storyline, great battle scenarios, & excellent graphics make this a must buy - if you haven't played it yet...Beware though, there was a bit of a ruckus about the ending...

Wow ! The artwork in this thread is really impressive !!! ...I wish I had the computer knowhow to produce art of this quality !

A quick browse on Google Play (for my Android phone) reveals an assortment of wallpapers, guides, and other minor apps for "Tomb Raider" and "Lara Croft"...The only games that I can seem to find are casino slot machine games (featuring Lara) - and a tomb-based game where a girl runs around a small dungeon endlessly killing monsters (strangely addictive - but not as good as Lara herself of course :yepp). It has been said that mobile console gaming is on the way out - to be replaced by gaming on mobile phones...Games on your phone are mostly cheap & cheerful, but they don't of course have the depth that consoles can produce :chin ...Having said that though, a mobile phone version of Assassin's Creed is playable, and it would be nice if there was a mobile version of Tomb Raider - and Resident Evil as well - but that's me. What do you think of the mobile gaming scene - and what games would you like to play on your phone, while on the bus to work / school / college ?

Unlike our favourite heroine Lara, who shall always be youthful, pretty & full of energy, our games consoles will age, malfunction, and eventually conk out. On the horizon are the advanced XBox One & PS4. Will you be getting one ? If yes, which one ? As for me, I'd like to get an XBox One, but because of the eye watering price tag, lack of backwards compatibility (PS4 too), & no games that really interest me (Battlefield 4 is available on the 360 - but a hard drive is required, for example), I think I'll wait for a year or so - when more games will come available (& hopefully there may be a small price drop)...However, having said that, I'd buy one straight away - if a new Tomb Raider game was coming out for it ! :chin

...You try to change your girlfriend's name to Lara...even when she isn't keen on the idea ...
-
Wow !...These pictures are impressive !...I think the second one is the best one :thumbsup.

Oh, my glasses have steamed up ...This picture is not bad...not bad at all !

Really good !

Three sayings spring to mind : "assumptions are the mother of all f**k ups" (Under Siege 2). If a colleague is singing badly in my presence : "who sang that song ?"... (Target gives name of singer)..."Let's keep it that way !" (Family Guy "Stewie"), and "Damn it !" (Lara Croft, Tomb Raider 2013)...

Fast forward to Autumn 2013, and a big question mark still hangs over who could be the new "young" Lara in the film reboot. I personally would go for Camilla Luddington as it seems that she went all out for the highly successful 2013 game - performing the moves as well as the voice acting for the game character. Being in the film would be a natural progression for someone who has already "proved herself" for the role, and looks a "natural" for the role too. However, I would agree with ladylike that Summer Glau and Gemma Arterton would be good for the role as well. In short, ladies with action experience - who could pass off being in their early 20s.
