Help needed defeating Takamoto in Japan(Legend)

Hi, :wave2: I have got to the 18th section to meet Takamoto I am playing on the Nintendo DS. I cannot seem to get behind the statues I can see the pole I need to help me but cannot get to it to pick it up. I have started the game three times now, I am in the easy mode but this stops me every time. PLEASE can someone help me.
