The "alternate" ending is indeed real. It's not really an alternate ending - it was available to watch at the end of the PS2 version - it continued where the general ending left off, but to the PS3/X360/PC gamers, it was an alternate to us. What's fake was the response "Cathy" sent you.
Wheesht. I had a go at her for lying to me but she's sticking to her guns. I just wish I knew the truth.
