Do you speak....

  • I speak English, as it's my born language. I speak Latin, but I rarely speak it. I'm learning Japanese and later this or next year, Chinese.

  • i'm learning german and french and speak english =]

god, german is sooo much easier than frecnh

    anyone else thing that?

Let's get ourselves lost:it's more interesting that way

    :sun: XxLoveable Outrageous LegendaryxX :D

  • I'm not learning French, but if it is anything like Latin (which I believe it is), it is indeed harder than German. Japanese grammar is extremely easy by the way, speaking of difficulty - for instance, the verbs are the same for all persons and there are only 2.5 irregular verbs (the third only counts for a half since it is only irregular in some few verb tenses).

  • I speak German, English (quite fluent, I hope [hehe] ) and very little French. At the moment I'm learning Latin and I also try to learn Japanese, but it's a bit too much atm with studying and Latin... so Japanese has to wait a bit :S

  • I speak German, english and a bit French. I speak a bit of Koreanisch, too. And a few words of Portugisisch, because my sister speak spanish and portogisisch.

  • I found French the most difficult language so far. You never speak a word as it is written or you never write it as it is spoken. Plus it sounds rather silly and although some words have a familiarity either in German/English or Latin, you never recognize them. When hearing or seeing Spanish, I can guess what most of it means.

  • Finnish? I like Indica :D Finnish must be very hard to learn, though, with its 15 cases... (and I don't plan on starting to learn it before I'm done with Japanese). I've always wondered if I pronounce "hääyöaieuutinen" correctly :hehe:

  • Can't remember if I already told you, so...: I'm speaking German most of the day as it is my native tongue. I can speak English better than I can write it (always have to look up the spelling of words on http://dict.leo.org/). I learned Latin in school, but that was a long time ago... I can read some Danish, as I go there on holidays regularly and it's mostly a mix of Plattdeutsch (Low German) and English, but I just can't get these strange sounds out of my mouth. (To all Danish people: Unskyld! Jeg elsker Danmark! ;-)) I'd like to speak Spanish, but I know only some basic sentences. ("Tu madre es loca!") I started to read a book on Japanese... but then I lost interest after the third lesson!

So, the only languages I can speak more or less fluently are German and English. On the other hand I speak some C, C++, Java, PHP, SQL, Basic, Haskell... I think that should count for something. ;-)

  • [hehe] Annnd how many humans do you communicate with in C++?
If you want to, I can teach you how to pronounce Danish properly :D
Well, just in case y'all are too lazy to look a few pages back:
I speak German, English and Danish fluently, while German is my native tongue, and I am learning Japanese (I know about 500 kanji). I am learning Latin at school (temporae mutantur nos et mutamur in illis) and as ^^ indicates, I might learn Finnish sometime. [Me = language lover :D]

  • Hey, you're the first person I meet who likes Indica too :D I guess they're not too well-known outside of Finland. What scares me is that although I don't know a lot about Finnish (i.e., nothing), I know the lyrics of my favorite Indica songs by heart :D Do you know Erämaan Viimeinen, the song Indica made in cooperation with Nightwish?

  • Yes! :D I know it! :-) I've only heard it about two times, though... But I like it! :D I also like Nightwish. Indica was on a world tour with Nightwish a while ago. If you want to know something about Finland, just ask. I'll be happy to answer as well as I can. :D
